05/08/2023 - 'Our thoughts on the MNDA' by Alice

The Motor Neurone Disease Association - our thoughts....

David and I are planning a series of fundraising events to raise money for the MNDA and many of Dave's friends and family members have also taken on challenges to raise money for this charity.

As vegans, we do understand that the MNDA fund animal testing to find treatments and cures for MND. To be clear, although we'd love to find a cure for this awful disease, we are both strongly against all forms of animal testing. Whether we like it or not, this is the law in the UK at this time.

However, our decision to raise money for this charity is based on the other services they provide (services we have already used and will also need to use in the future).

They provide a helpline for any kind of support or advice, specialist financial and benefits help from CAB staff, they will pay for Dave's voice banking that would otherwise cost us £££, they loan equipment or provide grants for equipment in the house, they provide a free will writing service, they've funded a specialist nurse in our area, they provide wheelchair support and communication aids and the local branch has a group with regular meetings and guest speakers - all paid for with donations.

I do hope our vegan friends will support our decision in supporting this important charity and we do also 100% understand if you cannot agree with this decision ✌️#peaceout
